Definition
The distinguished name (DN) uniquely identifies the object and contains the name of the domain that holds the object, as well as the complete path through the container hierarchy to the object. The relative distinguished name (RDN) is the part of an object’s DN that is an attribute of the object itself. The globally unique identifier (GUID) is a 128-bit hexadecimal number that is guaranteed to be unique within the enterprise. The user principal name (UPN) consists of a user account name (sometimes referred to as the user logon name) and a domain name identifying the domain in which the user account is located. |
