Review all known schools for changes in population, closing, consolidations, relocation, or new openings

Definition
To outline the minimum program actions the recruiter must take with each working school assigned

6. How do you conduct an initial visit to a High School/Community College?
Definition
Make initial call to the principal, head counselor, or dean to schedule an appointment
Place action date on the HS/CC Visit Card and return to NCOIC
Review last year’s HS/CC Profile Sheet to view school’s response to military
Have the HS/CC Profile Sheet, HS/CC Visit Card, promotional material (coffee mugs, calendars, etc.) and your business cards available to take with you
Ensure NCOIC is available to rehears the initial visit by doing role plays and provide coaching during the actual visit
Set specific goals for the initial visit (gain full access to school and facilities, obtain lists, reconfirm ASVAB test dates, meet all department heads, obtain area to put take-ones, get schedule for school events, etc.)

7. How do you maintain contact with a High School/Community College?
Definition
During sports seasons, meet with coaches to discuss opportunities
Update counselors on changes or developments in the NROTC, ASVAB, enlistment, or in-service educational programs and benefits
Schedule and conduct talks periodically during the school year (band, career day, NROTC, etc.)
Keep take-ones and any other materials displayed stocked up
Advertise as often as possible in school newspapers especially prior to talks
Always wear Dress Blue uniform at school functions/meetings
Arrange frequent meetings with poolees at schools for exposure
Make sure Marines returning from recruit training go to the schools with you (walking and talking proof)
Attend graduations and award ceremonies in Dress Blues to present awards
Arrange to have NROTC scholarships presented by the RS CO, XO, OPSO, or other commissioned officer
Send “thank you” notes to principals, counselors, secretaries, and staff who assisted in the recruiting effort
Contact a representative at the school newspaper to prepare a story on the recruiter or Command Recruiter from the school
