-Young calves may diet, pregnant cows may abort

Term
Treatment of Lice in cattle
Definition

-Treatment with synergized pyrethrins, synthetic pyrethroids, permethrin, zetacypermethrin, cyhalothrin (beef cattle only)

-Organophosphates phosmet, chlorpyrifos (cannot use on lactating dairy cattle), tetrachlorvinphos, coumaphos, diazinon (cannot use on lactating cattle)

-Macrocyclic lactones, ivermectin, eprinomectin, doramectin

-Pour on formulations effective against biting and blood-sucking lice (last 3-4 months)

-injectable formulations are most effective against bloodsucking lice

-Fix husbandry issues and clean environment

-Self-treatment devices (back rubbers, oilers, dust bags, and ear tags
