Purpose: reduce the use of potable water for landscape irrigation.
Credit: based on calculated midsummer (july) baseline case, reduce 50% of the potable consumed by irrigation.
Water reduction can be achieved by any of the following:
1. capture and re-use rainwater
2. recycle wastewater
3. for non-potable irrigation use, use water treated and delivered by public agency.
4. efficient irrigation
5. choose the right plant species

Purpose: to eliminate the use of potable water use for irrigation
Credit: Either/OR
1. Use plants that do not need irrigation, exception being systems used for less then one year to establish newly planted landscaping.
OR
2. Do not use any potable irrigation use by using recycled greywater, recycled wastewater, captured rainwater, or rainwater treated and delivered by a public agency.

Purpose: to reduce demand for potable water and generate less wastewater, and increase the amount of water recharged to the local aquifer
Credit:Either/Or
1. Use non-potable water, or water saving plumbing fixtrures to reduce 50% of the potable water usage for building sewage conveyance.
OR
2. Follow tertiary standards and treat 50% of the wastewater onsite. You can use living machine/natural system, or packaged mechanical wastewater treatment. Treated water should be used on site or infiltrated.

Purpose: to reduce the pressure on wastewater systems and municipal water supply by saving as much water as possible within buildings.
Credit: Meet the Energy Policy Act of 1992 fixture performance requirements and then apply strategies to save 20% of the water when compared to the water use baseline of the building. calculations include, sinks, urinals, water closets, shower and kitchen sink, and lavatory faucets.
Strategies and Technologies: use greywater and rainwater, or watersaving/waterless fixtures
Extra Credit (1 point): doubling requirements and saving 40% OR your process and non-regulated water use savings is at least 10% in the design regulated water use.
