Yoke

Definition
Saddle-like adapter for flow meters on a E tank
Term

Define:

Hydrostatic Testing

Definition

A test performed every 5-10 years. Shows that tank is in working condition, allows 10% greater psi capacity.

Term

Define: DOT 3AA

Who regulates Medical Gas Cylinders?

Definition

DOT 3AA= "meets all DOT standards"

DOT= Department of Transportation

Term
What are some of the DOT regulations over gas cylinders?
Definition
Marking, Storage, Safety, and Transport
Term

Define:

Frangible Disk VS Fusible Plug

Definition

Frangible Disk: fragment-able disk in a cylinder; reacts in high pressure

Fusible Plug: metal plug with low melting point; releases pressure in cylinder

Term

Define:

Bourdon Gauge VS Thorpe Tube

Definition

Bourdon Gauge: Double gauge flow meter. Reads accurate on it's side. Uncompensated to back flow/pressure

Thorpe Tube: flow meter with tube and ball (rises with higher flow). Does NOT read accurate on it's side. Compensated and Uncompensated models.

Term

Define:

Liquid Oxygen

Definition
Liquid state of O2 at -272 oF. Stored under very high pressures to maintain liquid state.
Term

Define:

Compensated VS Uncompensated

Definition

Compensated: back pressure does not affect reading. (Needle valve is distal to Thorpe tube)

Uncompensated: will not read accurately in presence of back pressure. (Flow control knob is before the tube)
