Mohammad Khatami

He was re-elected as president on June 13, 2010. This is Khatamis second term, he has been president of Iran since 1997.

2003 Iran Earthquake

On December 26, 2003 a large earthquake near Bam Iran killed over 40,000 people and left over 45,000 people homeless. Many people came together to help Iran overcome this natural disaster.

2006 Bomb Attack

In the city of Ahvaz 8 people were killed from an unexpected bomb attack. Iran blamed UK for the attack. More than 40 people were injured from this bombing.

2008 Rocket

On Febuary 4, 2008 Iran launched a research rocket into space to mark the opening of its space center. The rocket called Kavoshgar-1 was fired out of the new space center in the desert of Semnam Province. This was preperation for the planned satellite launching in the future.

2010 Suicide Bombing

On July 16, 2010 26 people were killed from a dounble suicide bombing and over 300 people were injured. The Sunni militant group were concidered guilty for the bombing.
