join. They include anything from the AMA, the ABA, and Unions to the USCTA. Not joining usually equates to a fine or the loss of opportunity to work or participate.

These are voluntary groups and often pursue a variety of issues
under an umbrella of a single general focus. Examples of umbrella
issues include civil rights, small business interests, etc. Examples of
groups include the NFIB, NAACP, Common Cause and Amnesty International.
