A machine that drives different types of machinery.
The energy is transferred by belts.
The Scottish James Watt invented the condensing steam engine in 1769. This new technology marked the beginning of the Industrial Revolution because now it was possible to make large amounts of cloth for less money and less time than before.

The Industrial Revolution began in Britain in the late 19th century and spread throughout the world. The industrial revolution completely changed the ways in which the world produced goods.

Suffrage means the right to vote.
In most countries today , the right to vote is every person’s birth right (universal suffrage). Until the end of the 19th century, only men with some property and income could vote in most Western ‘‘democracies’’(census suffrage).[image]

Democracy is a form of a government in which all the people of a country vote to elect their representatives.
In a democracy, the majority rules, but the rights of minorities are protected by law. Everybody enjoys the basic human rights
