wa (harmony): evanescence of all things and the unchanging in the changing. transient quality of tea gathering. free of pretensions.
kei(respect): sincerity of heart. innate dignity of environment, fellow humans, nature.
sei(purity): cearling the "dust of the owrld" or worldly attachments, from one's heart and mind. cleaning enables one to sense the pure and sacred essence of things, man, and nature.
jaku(tranquility): aesthetic concept. alone, away from world, at one with nature, free from material world attachments. contemplation over a bowl of tea. tranquility within our own selves in the company of others is the paradox. |
