The May Fourth Movements were a series of movements stemming from student demonstrations in Beijing on May 4, 1919 that protested the Chinese government's weak response to the Treaty of Versailles. Many citizens, not just students were opposed to having so many other countries run China, especially Japan receiving Germany's land from the Treaty of Versailles. Many argue that this movement helped promote the political and cultural revolutions that the Chinese Communist party called for. |
