JESUS GAVE AN EXAMPLE IN MATTHEW 5:28, "I TELL YOU THAT ANYONE WHO LOOKS AT A WOMAN LUSTFULLY HAS ALREADY COMMITTED ADULTERY WITH HER IN HIS HEART." LUST INVOLVES IMPURE THOUGHTS. LUST IS NOT THE SAME AS NOTICING THE BEAUTY OF SOMEONE OF THE OPPOSITE SEX AND ADMIRING THEM. BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF ABOUT THIS, HOWEVER, AND DON'T CLAIM TO BE ADMIRING SOMEONE WHEN YOUR THOUGHTS WERE REALLY INVOLVING SIN.
FALSE CONFIDENCE IN YOUR OWN STRENGTH AND IN THE STABILITY OF EARTHLY THINGS. THIS INVOLVES PUTTING OURSELVES FIRST WHEN WE SHOULD PUT JESUS FIRST IN OUR LIFE. DON'T FORGET THE SCRIPTURE IN PROVERBS 16:18, "PRIDE GOES BEFORE DESTRUCTION AND A HAUGHTY SPIRIT BEFORE A FALL." |
