1890 -residence requirements: Citzens of the state for 2 years, live in voting district for one year -Poll tax: tax of $2 paid by Feb1st of election year, present receipt in november -criminal disqualification: long list of crimes blacks are more likely to commit -literacy test: had to be able to read and write section of state constitution chosen by the registrar -Understanding clause: if the voter was illiterate he could still register if he could understand a section |
