pharmacology: anti-sweet; blocks taste receptors of the mouth.

Medicinal Use: lower blood glucose in insulin dependent diabetics; needs to be taken continuously for 6-12 mo.

Dose: standardized to contain 24% gymnemic acid

Medicinal Use: hypoglycemic, cinnamon aldehyde inhibits cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase decreasing inflammation

(fenugreek)

Constituent: steriodal saponins (hydrolyzed into diosgenin and yamogenin)

Medicinal Use: stabilize blood sugar in insulin dep and non-dep. cholesterol-lowering plans (5g daily for three months)

Dosing: if used alone, a large amount is needed.
