Bulimia nervosa is another very common eating disorder caused by psychological imbalance. A person suffering from bulimia nervosa will experience regular bouts of overeating, which are always followed by a feeling of guilt. This can then lead to extreme reactions such as crash dieting, excessive exercise, and purging which is the act of deliberately vomiting.Unlike anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa is difficult to identify. The sufferer is not usually underweight. Because of the shame and guilt associated with the illness, patients are skilled in masking the symptoms.

This disorder can have severe psychological effects on the person, and can alter their state of mind and lifestyle in a negative aspect. Our purpose is to remedy this ongoing problem and improve the lives of those who suffer from Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa. A non-profitable magazine, specifically for people suffering from these eating disorders, will be established with the funds from the Bulimia Anorexia
Nervosa Association (BANA),and the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD).

Dead Skinny: 'Dying To Be Thin' is a magazine we will create to target young men and women who suffer from Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa in attempt to encourage them to make a drastic lifestyle change and strive to reach a better health of the mind and body. This magazine is essential to these people because it will serve as a support guide on their path to physical and mental wellness. It has been proven time and time again that young individuals who suffer from mental disorders such as anorexia and bulimia nervosa are more susceptible to experience negative effects on their health. Very rarely do these sufferers seek help by their own will without the help of a close friend or family member. They very rarely seek the medical and psychological attention they need. A disorder like this blocks out all logical reasoning, and the natural survival needs and instincts of human beings in order to reach their goal of looking “thin and fabulous”. This is a search for social and self acceptance. What these people look for is not just to fit into a size 0, but to also fit in with the standards of the beauty industry and what they conceive as the “perfect” woman and man. Unfortunately, many people fall victims to the deceitful hands of the beauty and fashion industry and force themselves to fit an unrealistic and unhealthy image.

Decrease the number of bulimia and anorexia nervosa inflicted deaths per year in the United States by 25%
This objective will be accomplished through a local-scale fashion show. The show will be planned with the help of donation and anyone with experience in this area that is willing to donate their time and expertise. This event will include a runway with men and women who are comfortable in their own body. These people will be the typical american, not a shocking and unhealthy size 0. We will show people that thick is beautiful, and skinny is not. At the closing of the event we will present young men and women suffering from the nervosa disorder and have them tell their stories and how it has negatively affected their lives on a drastic level.

After acquiring all the information and the fund needed to create the magazine we will start the process of making the rough draft. Once that is finished, we will publish our first edition of the magazine with the help of a computer software. An event will be held for the launching of the first edition of the magazine on October, 7th 2013. This event is an attempt to make people aware of the cause and the movement and to raise more money to continue the publishing of new editions to help bulimia and anorexia nervosa sufferers. The magazines will be handed out to those interested for FREE seeing as this is a non-profitable magazine, although donations will be much appreciated and encouraged. The next editions of the magazine after the first two are published will hopefully be funded with the help of BANA, and ANAD. This magazine will hopefully influence and inspire the reader to feel comfortable in their own skin. The result of such will be less people suffering from this life-threatening disorder. The only way to accomplish change is the sufferer to want the change. This magazine proposes a source of health-spiration and boosts of self-esteem and self-worth to the reader. The literature will help them make the first step towards a healthy life.
