Totalitarian

-single political party 

- people are forced into what the gov't tells them to

- people could be prevented from leaving the country

Dictatorship

- usually single leader

- leader uses force to keep control, usually has an army behind him 

- little or no attention to the publics opinion 

Capitalism 

- "free market economy"

- people own their own businesses and properties

- have to buy their on services (healthcare etc.)

Theocracy

- rulers claim to rule on behalf of a set of religious ideas

Monarchy

- King or Queen w/ sometimes absolute power

- power passed down through the family

Republic

- led by representatives of voters 

 - individual is chosen 

Totalitarian 

- political party in-charge 

- the people can't vote for alternate candidates and parties 

Oligarchy/ Plutocracy

- ruled by an elite group who rule for their own good and interest (money etc.)

- certain members have a valid voice in the gov't

Revolutionary

- existing structure is overthrown by completely new group

- this system is not a real type of gov't. it helps the country move on from their old gov't and in to a new one

Democracy

- gov't elected by the people 

- people eligible to vote (large amount of people) get to have a say in who rules

Anarchy

-No gov't

- can occur after civil war, destroyed gov't or rival groups fighting

Communism 

- gov't owns all businesses and farms

- provides people with healthcare, education, and welfare

Socialism 

- gov't owns many of the larger industries and provides: education, health, and warfare services

-people have some economic choice
