1. Give Isotonic fluids as a 1st choice treatment: no fluid shift/replaces what was lost and expands vascular volume: Normal Saline or Lactated Ringers 2. Once you have replaced the volume, switch to Hypotonic Solution, 1/2 or 1/4 Normal Saline, in order to continue replacing electrolytes without overloading the volume on the kidneys. 3. If giving Hypotonic, watch out for ICP |
