Staphylococcus aureus: heat stable enterotoxin, boiling for 30 mins wont destroy the toxin.
Symptoms: 1-6 hour incubation period, Nausea - cramping - vomiting(triggers "Vagus nerve" --> vomit reflex center), Diarrhea Last 18-24 hours |

- Enterohemorrhagic - E. coli 0157:H7 Cause of the famous '93 "Jack in the box killer" epidemic. May cause Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) in infants and small children.
- Enterotoxigenic - "Traveler's diarrhea" & "Infant diarrhea". Treat with Pepto-Bismol 2-4 times per day.
- Enteroinvasive - porduces a Shigella like enterotoxin. Causes ulceration and lesions.
- Enteropathogenic - Epidemic diarrhea in children. Outbreaks may occur in Day car centers.
