How did WWII start?
Definition
Hitler was elected to power and began to lead Germany out of its great depression. He soon wanted to annex the Czech republic and was able to do so because the British and French were unable to help the Czech at the time. After occupying all of the Czech republic, he set his sights on Poland, and that's when the British and French intervened and declared war.

Definition
Different this time: Roosevelt made it clear that he sympathized with France and Britain and would do any legal action to support them

Definition
the US would allow the British and French to buy whatever they wanted from the US as long as they paid cash and carried it on their own boats. Was designed to avoid attacks on American ships like during the last war.

Definition
amendment to the Cash/Carry Law
US basically gives Great Britain whatever it needs to defend itself. Lent war goods/materials for free or rented it to them.

Definition
Japan allied with Germany and Italy to frighten the Americans to stay out of the war. And it worked.

Why were the Japanese pissed at the Americans?
Definition
Japan invaded Indochina, and Roosevelt was afraid they'd go after the Philippines next, so he cut off trade of scrap metal, fuel and oil to Japan until they stop the invasion. Japan relied on America for their oil, but had been fighting for these lands for 10 years.
