The raids and the investigations into government officials, prompted Congressional members to launch their own investigation into Communism in the U.S. In the late 1940s, Congress formed the House on Un-American Activities Committee also known as HUAC. HUAC identified three key areas where they felt Communist would have the greatest influence in swaying public opinion against America. |
