Fowler's Position
 Definition
Fowler's positioning is often the alert patient's position of comfort. The patient is sitting up in a supine position with the head of the bed or gurney approaching 90degrees (high Fowler's) or between 30-45 degrees (semi-Fowler"s). Either way, physical exam can be easily performed and the patient's airway is visible. Fowler's also allows for maximum oxygenation via maximum chest expansion. High Fowler's is standard positioning for patients experiencing respiratory distress
