FIRST DEGREE AV BLOCK

 

Rate:              Usually WNL, but depends on the

                       underlying rhythm

 

Rhythm:          Regular        

 

P Waves:         Normal

 

PR Interval:    Prolonged, greater than 0.20 sec

 

QRS Complex: 0.10 sec or less

 SECOND DEGREE AV BLOCK 

TYPE 1 


Rate:              Atrial faster rate than ventricular

 

Rhythm:          Atrial regular, Ventricular irregular    

 

P Waves:         Normal, but not always followed by

                        a QRS

 

PR Interval:    Lengthens w/ each cycle until a QRS

                        is dropped

 

QRS Complex: 0.10 sec or less

TYPE 2

 

Rate:              Atrial faster rate than ventricular

 

Rhythm:          Atrial regular, Ventricular irregular    

 

P Waves:         Normal, but not always followed by

                        a QRS

 

PR Interval:    Normal or slightly prolonged

 

QRS Complex: Usually greater than 0.10 sec,

                         periodically absent

QRS Complex: May be narrow or wide & unusual

                         looking
