Definition
Anorexia -2 main types (restrictive with eating very little and exercising too much and binge eating/purging type that is more associated with depression and substnace abuse)

-melanosis coli (darkened are of the colon secondary to laxative abuse)
-leukopenia
-osteoporosis
tx: patients may be tx'd as outpatients unless they are more than 20% below IBW, in which case they should be hospitalized
-tx: behavioral tx, family tx, and supervised weight-gain programs

Definition
-recurrent episodes of binge eating
-inappropriate attempts to compensate for overeating and to prevent weight gain (laxative abuse, purging, diuretics)
-Occurs for atleast 2/week for 3 months
-perception of self-worth is excessively influenced by body weight and shape
tx: psychotherapy, CBT, SSRIs
