It is primary a shell with four chambers inside, each fills with its own blood. The atria are the two top chambers and ventricles are the two bottom chambers. A wall called the septum separates the left and right sides of the heart. Deoxygenated blood goes to the right ventricle where it will pick up oxygen in the lungs. Oxygenated blood goes to the left ventricle where it'll be pumped throughout the body. |
