Olfactory Nerve I

Orgin: Hair Cells in the Superior portion of the nasal Mucosa.

Termination: Olfactory portion of the cerebral Cortex

Optic Nerve II

Origin: Rods and cones of the photoreceptor cells of the retina.

Termination: Visual areas of the occipital lobes of the cerebral cortex

Oculomotor Nerve III

Origin: Motor part-Nuclei in the midbrain

Sensory part- eye muscle proprioceptors.

Term:Motor-Extrinsic and intrinsic eye muscles.

 Sensory-Proprioceptive areas of the cerebral cortex.

IV

Trochlear IV

Origin:Motor-Oculomotor nucleus in the midbrian.

Sensory-Proprioceptors in the face, scalp, and organs of the head.

Term:Motor-Extrinsic eye muscles.

Sensory-Prpprioceptive areas of cerebral cortex.

Trigeminal V

Origin: Motor-Nucleus in pons.

Sensory-Opathalmic branch-face and scalp. Maxillary BR -nasal mucosa, oral cavity & face.

Mandibular BR- oral cavity, lower teeth side of head.

Termination:Motor Muscles of massification.

Sensory nuclei in the pons for all the sensory.

Abducens VI

Origin: Motor - nucleus in the pons.

Sensory- proprioceptors in lateral rectus muscle.

Termination: Motor Lateral rectus muscel .

Sensory - Nucleus in the pons.

Facial Nerve VII

Origin- Motor-Nuclei in the pons.

Sensory- general Stimuli from face and scalp.

Termination-Motor facial scalp and neck Muscles.

Sensory- Gustatory areas of the parietal lobes of the cerebral cortex, Nuclei in the cerebral cortex. 

VIII

Vestibulocochlear Nerve VII

Origin- Sensory sprial organ of the inner ear, semicircular canals etc of the inner ear.

Term: Sensory- auditory area of the temporal lobes of the cerebral cortex, nuclei in the pins, thalamus and the cerebellum.

IX

Glossopharyngeal Nerve IX

Origin: Motor-Nucleus in the medulla. Sensory - taste buds, pharynx, carotid sinus and muscles of the pharynx,

Term: Motor Parotid glands and muscles of the pharynx.  Sensory-nuclei in the thalamus.

Vagus Nerve X

Origin: Motor-Nucleus in the medulla & cervical part of spinal cord.

Sensory-receptors in thoracic and abdominal viscera.

Term:motor- Thoracic and abdominal viscera

Sensory- Nuclei in the medulla and pons.

Accessory Nerve XI

Origin: Motor- Nucleue in the medulla and cervical part of the spinal cord.

Sensory- Skeletal muscle proprioceptors.

Term:  Motor- skeletal M. of the neck & shoulders.

Sensory-dorsal root ganglia in the cervical region.

Hypoglossal Nerve XII

Origin: motor- nucleus in the medulla.

Sensory- tounge proprioceptors.

Term: Motor- Tounge musculature.

Sensory- Nucleus in the thalamus.
