Definition
The farm life of colonial people what a major part of the industry. The most significant colony that introduced farming was the Carolinas and Virginia. Carolina was known for its tobacco and turpentine. These were very useful back then and still used even today. Virginia was known for its crops and vast fields for farming. All of the colonies used farming, but these two colonies were known for it.

There were many different religions in colonial times. One of the main religions was the Puritans. The Puritans were started in Massachusetts and continued to grow throughout the colonies. Another was Christianity. Christianity as the biggest because, one of the reasons that people wanted to come to the Americas was to get away from Europes power in forcing people to worship how they wanted to. |

Colonial crimes and punishment were very different than what it was today. Some of the crimes might have been adultery, blasphemy. The way they decided how to sentence someone was very different from today. They would have a single judge, who could decide to do whatever he wanted to with the person. The punishments were also much crueler back then. |

Colonial families had a wide variety. There could be low-income families who were indentured slaves trying to work off their debt. Some families had big plantations and did not have to work at all and had slaves who worked for them. Most families, however, were middle class and had to work hard, but we're still able to afford some nice things. |

Colonial life for African Americans was mixed. Most were slaves. Some were indentured slaves and wanted to come to America. Some were also slaves brought from Africa that were being forced to work. Also, some African Americans were just like White Americans and had their own plantation and were free to do whatever they would like. |
