Describe where Religious Science came from
Definition
Religious Science is a philosophy that was a culmination of the great Truths that lie at the heart of all religions and the provability of a science. Founded by Ernest Holmes who believed that there were immutable Laws governing the Universe and that through the use of these Laws humankind could always demonstrate the proof of these laws.
Term
class 22-1 What can happen when we understand surrender and acceptance?
Definition
With understanding comes letting go. We begin to understand that everything is an aspect of God and has its own consciousness that groups together and each group has its own race thought and these groups can become river or earthquake. We begin to understand that there is a greater good that encompasses poverty, crime, etc and that transcends our human judgments. With surrender and acceptance comes a conscious use of the power to enhance conditions of life.
Term
class 22-2
What is the value of living authentically?
Definition
We are able to live in the strong conviction "I am what I am,", the awareness of the sacred self that we truly are. With this comes ease of creating and choosing.

As defined by Marsha Sinetar in Elegant Choices, Healing Choices, what are elegant choices and what is the benefit of choosing them?
Definition
We grow healthier, stronger, more actualized if, when and to the degree we select things that are in line with beauty, truth, integrations, order, joy, aliveness, life, virtue, love and so on. The elegant choice itself helps us to become whole.
Term
class 22-4
What are the two parts of being in the sacred garden?
Definition
One part comes through receptivity, through grace. Going through the ten thousand gates we have a direct experience of the sacred. The other part requires choice, an act of conscious intention to embody the sacred in our everyday lives.
Term
class 22-5
What does Holmes mean when he says "Now we can forget about the Law and know there is nothing but the Word."?
Definition
Forget about all else, the Law works automatically, let our word be spoken with a deep inner realization of that great presence, of love, beauty, peace, poise and power, at the point of our own consciousness
Term
class 23-1
What practical benefit do we gain from "Living in the Light?"
Definition
We can shine the light of principle on our darkest problem and find wisdom and enlightenment.
Term
Class 23-2
What does Earnest Holmes advise us not to try to visualize the mystical light or make it appear?
Definition
Forms of concentration do not usually lead to the mystical sense. We must be careful not to confuse the subjective phenomena with spiritual reality. They may or may not be spiritual.
Term
Class 23-3
What is the difference between a mystic and a psychic?
Definition
A psychic deals only with human thoughts; only reads subjective pictures and tendencies. A mystic is one who senses the Divine presence; one who intuitively senses reality. A mystic does not read human thought but senses the Thought of God.

What do you imagine Ernest Holmes meant when he wrote, "We need to break out of our shell of monotony and discover within the light that lights every person's life?
Definition
Answers will vary.The purpose is to see where the student is at in their thinking on this subject.
Term
Class 24-1
What is the key to our freedom? Explain?
Definition
The power of choice is the key to our freedom. As God is the life within us, we have access to all the attributes of God. We are free to call forth any of the qualities of God at any time. On our pathway of self-discovery we are free to choose our direction and area of involvement. Regardless of outcome we use our freedom in concert with a law that knows how to, and will, respond by producing the "form" of the choices we make.
Term
Class 24-2
What are responsible choices?
Definition
Responsible choices are those that take into account the consequences of each choice. Only through responsible choice can we choose consciously to cultivate and nourish our connection with spirit.
Term
Class 24-3
How is it that we are one hundred percent responsible for our choices?
Definition
There is no other power telling us what to do, to choose for us, or to deny our choices. We are responsible for all action, reaction, and interaction in our lives. We are totally in charge of our own lives. Nothing, and no one, can influence us unless we choose to allow it; nor can we alter another person's life unless they choose to allow it.
Term
Class 24-4
How is "Freedom" tied up with "Unity"? Explain
Definition
True liberty, true freedom, has something cosmic behind it. Our bodies and the earth are made of the same stuff. Through physics we know that there is no dis-unity in the physical world. In this unity we move, live, and have our being. Since our nature is one, since God is One, then the universe cannot be divided against itself. Therefore, we are all tied into an invisible unity. To understand freedom we must come to an understanding of this unity. No freedom can exist which denies or destroys the liberty or freedom of any other part of that whole. That would be self destruction and that which is infinite can not be destroyed. All freedom, all choice is tied to the unity of the whole.
Term
Class 24-5
Explain how there is diversity and multiplicity within the One
Definition
The first principle of life is oneness, and the first performance of life is multiplying itself without dividing itself. Life must be one, and one that one, in order to be expressed, must be many; but the many, in order to exist, must live as one.
Term
class 25-1
According to William Bridges, what are the three stages of transition? Give a brief explanation of each.
Definition
ENDINGS-change always requires letting go of something, someone, or some idea
NEUTRAL ZONE-a time between one state of being (or role) and another, a place of reviewing endings and of self-renewal
NEW BEGINNINGS-may come in the form of an idea, impression, fantasy or insight. It is that which in some way replaces that which has ended. It is that which turns us away from the loss into our present and future.
Term
class 25-2
What could be some of the benefits of the "neutral zone?"
Definition
It is a wonderful time for breakthrough to new understanding. A time we can ask again "Who am I really?"What do I really want in my life?" A time that supports the spiritual depth which over a lifetime produces wisdom.
Term
class 25-3
From a Science of Mind perspective, explain, "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Definition
To renew your mind is to think anew, to find the Truth from within and in that Truth we are transformed.
Term
class 25-4
The Law is Infinite and Perfect but in order to make a demonstration we must have a Mental Equivalent. Explain.
Definition
What we believe to be true about reality is our mental equivalent from which our reality is created. In order to change our reality we must change the belief; in changing the belief we create a new mental equivalent (visualization from within of what you want to demonstrate) from which a new reality is created.
Term
class 25-5
Explain why change is the natural sequence of events.
Definition
Change is the creative process in action. As we are made in the image and likeness of God, we are creative by nature and constantly in the process of becoming. As we create, we are constantly renewing and becoming something else, something more than even the moment before. In small or large ways we are changing. Sometimes this change is imperceptible and sometimes painfully obvious. No matter what, it is change and it is constant and because of who and what we are it is natural.

class 25-1
