Definition
The SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) was a group of young student civil rights activists that fought for the end of racism, peacefully.  Using peaceful protests and "sit-ins" to help fight racism, especially to black groups.  Was founded in February 1, 1960, in Raleigh, North Carolina, and ended after six years.

Definition

A group of segregation activists who rode buses all over the segregated southern USA, to challenge segregation travel facilities in the South, and bring in civil rights.

Cities where they traveled:  Washington DC, Richmond, Petersburg, Farmville, Lynchburg, Danville, Greensboro, Highpoint, Salisbury, Charlotte, Rock Hill, Winnsboro, Columbia, Sumter, Augusta, Athens, Atlanta, Anniston, Birmingham, New Orleans, Ardmore, Nashville, Montgomery, and Jackson.

Many of these riders were arrested for many causes.

Definition
On February 1, 1960, a group of Black students ordered lunch at a department store called Woolworths, but following an only-white policy, the lunch-counter refused to serve the students, but the four men just stayed at the resteraunt all day.  Eventually, this led to a civil rights movement, and Woolworths changed its segregation policy.

Little Rock Nine
Definition
In the year 1957, a group of nine black students tried to enter a high school, Little Rock High, but segregationists, and othe White students wouldn't allow them to enter at all.  President Eisenhower immediately heard about this crisis, and sent troops to escort the nine students safely.  At one point, a trooper had to spray acid on a white students eyes, because the student was about to harm the Black student.

Brown v. Board of Education
Definition
When Oliver Brown  tried to enroll his daughter into a "white school", he was turned down because of his daughter's race, and color.  Immediately, he went to NAACP to help his daughter, and other black kids to get into the same school as white people.  Eventually, the Supreme Court made the decision that all Black people are to be treated as equally as the other White people.
