Cardiovascular System

A collection of organs that transport blood to and from your body's cells; the organs in this system include the heart, the arteries, and the veins.

Blood

A connective tissue made up of platelets, white bloode cells, red blood cells, and plasma.

Blood vessles that carry blood away from the heart

Capillaries

The smallest blood vessles

Veins

Blood vessles that direct blood to the heart

Pulmonary Circulation

The circulation of blood between the heart and lungs

Systemic Circulation

The circulation of blood between the heart and the body (excluing the lungs)

Blood Presure

The amount of force extended by blood on the inside wallsof a blood vessle

Lymphatic System

A collection of organs that controll extracellular fluid and returns it ot the blood; the orfans in the system include the lymph nodes and lymphatic vessles

Lymph

The fluid and particals into lymph capillaries

Lymph Nodes

Small, bean-shaped organs that conntain small fibers that work like nets to remove particlas from the lymph

Thymus

A lymph organ that produces lymphocytes

Spleen

An organ that filters blood and produces lymphocytes

Tonsils

Small masses of soft tissue located at the back of the nasal cavity, on the inside of the throat, and the back of the toung

Respiration

The exchange of gases between living cells and their environment; includes breathing and cellular respiration

Repiratoy System

A collection of organs whose primary function is ti take in oxygen and expel carbon dioxide; the organs of this system include the lungs, the throat, and the passageways that lead to the lungs.

Pharynx

The upper portion of the throat

Larynx

The area of the throat that contains the vocal cords

Trachea

The air passageway from the larynx to the lungs

Bronchi

The two tubes that connect the lung with the trachea

Alveoli

Tiny sacs that form the bronchiole branches of the lungs
