Palmer wants to stomp out radicals. He will create a new division of the justice dept. and put j. Edgar Hoover in charge to rid the “red menace”. November 1919 the palmer raids will take place. Arrests and deportations in many cities. This will be the greatest violation of civil liberties in the US so far. Palmer becomes a national hero. By 1920 the raids are over but the long term legacy will be the creation of organizations that are anti-communists and anti-radicals. |

2 Italian anarchists are arrested in 1920 for murdering a shoe factory guard. Both are convicted and sentenced to death. Little to no evidence to convict them of the crime. Most felt they were punished because they were Immigrants and radicals. In 1927 they both die in the electric chair. In 1977 The Massachusetts governor will exonerate them. |

Will also see better with more variety and fresher foods. Education will also increase. 1900 1-10 stay in high school. 1-33 stay in college 1930 6-10 stay in high school 1-7 stay in college. |
