• replicated chromosomes "supercoil" (shorten and thicken)

Metaphase

• replicated chromosomes line up down the middle of the cell

Anaphase

• the replicas of each chromosome are pulled apart from each other towards opposite poles of the cell

• two new nuclei are formed

Become Visible in Prophase

• Nuclear envelope breaks down and dissappears
• Centirole divides in two
• Each daughter cell moves to opposite ends to form a spindle

• Chromosomes move to equatoor and become attached to a spindle thread by it's centromere

Replicates seperate in anaphase

• Sister chromatids are seperated when the centromere splits
• Spindle fibres shorten pulling sister chromatids to poles

• as seperated chromosomes go to the poles a new nuclear envelope forms around each set
