Definition
Aortic arches arise from aortic sac. I: Small portion becomes maxillary artery. II: Forms hyoid and stapedial arteries. III: Forms common carotid artery and first part of internal carotid artery. IV: On the left it forms part of the arch of aorta, on the right forms the most proximal segment of subclavian artery. V: nothing VI: known as pulmonary arch. Right side becomes part of pulmonary artery. Left side becomes the ductus arteriosus(extension of pulmonary artery. |
