F: like sparrow, underside is dark with lighter streaks (looks more streaked than sparrows), throat and face is dark orange color, black cap, black eye stripe, darkly striped on back, slight orange shoulder patch

Common, beak is finch/sparrow like (conical, triangle), smaller than any other blackbirds (~downy), very short tail, hang high in trees
Male Brown-headed Cowbirds have glossy black plumage and a rich brown head that often looks black in poor lighting or at distance.
Female Brown-headed Cowbirds are plain brown birds, lightest on the head and underparts, with fine streaking on the belly and a dark eye.
Call: liquid-sounding series of low gurgling notes followed by thin sliding whistles, lasting slightly longer than 1 second |
