The Whiskey Rebellion:

After 7 years after the war the country was free of taxes and is in debt.  Hamilton decided to tax spirits and then it turned people to moonshining... In 1794 the violence increased and Washington calls out the militia and the whiskey rebellion in blood shed.

-also known as Patent Still

-invented in 1827 by Robert Stein (Ireland)

-Improved by Aeneas Coffey

-Produces more alcohol cheaper

-produces continually wtihout cleaning out the wash

-can be up to 97.2% alc.

-produces less congeners and flavor

-creates neutral grain spirit

-the more the base passes through the plates, the higher the alc content

-originally made of wood, now of stainless steel

-copper pipes remove sulfur
