Frontal Bone 

Forms forehead,eyebrows and back of each eyes orbit 

Parietal Bone(s) (2)

form most of upper and side walls, meet at midline (saggital suture) and meet the frontal bone at the coronal suture. 

Temporal Bone(s) (2) 

inferior to parietal bones

External auditory meatus (leads to eardrums) 

styloid process (neck muscles attachement site) 

Zygomatic process (Bridge of bone that connects to cheekbones) 

Mastoid process (contains mastoid sinuses) 

Occipital Bone

forms botttom and back wall of skull, joins the parietal bones at the Lamboid suture.

Foramen magnum (openig for spinal cord) 

Occipital condyles (rest on firt vertebrae) 

Sphenoid bone 

Forms width of skull and floor of cranial cavity 

Sphenoid bone markings 

Sella turcica (small depression in middle of bone, holds pituitary gland) 

Foramen ovale (oval opening for nerves for chewing muscles)

Sphenoid sinuses 

Ethmoid bone 

In front of sphenoid bone, forms roof of nasal cavity.

crista galli (attachement site of brain covering) 

cribriform plates (Either side of crista galli, many small holes for nerve fibers from smell receptors) 

Coronal suture 

Seperates frontal and parietal bones

Lambdoid suture 

Connects parietal bones and occipital bones 

Sagital sutures 

connects parietal bones

Squamous suture

Connects temporal and parietal bones
