 Definition
Mainly with farmers, Some barbarians were better farmers than others, then the less skilled farmers would begin to borrow things from the better farmer. The better or wealthier farmer would then claim the other farmer owes him service or needs to pay up, the idea of the "Trap" was that once you got into debt you couldn't get out and would become some form of peasant or a slave
