Term
Arterial Anastomoses around Scapular? |
|
Definition
Occurs btw three groups of arteries
Suprascapular- arises from the thyrococervical trunk, passes over the transverse scapular ligament, supplying the supraspinatus and infraspinatus
Dorsal Scapular- arises from the subclavian artery, accompanies the dorsal scapular nerve, supplies the rhomboids, levator scapulae and serratus anterior
Circumflex Scapular Arteries- arises from the subscapular artery, enters the triangular space
Posterior/Anterior circumflex- arises from the axillary artery and posteriorly with the axillary nerve from the quadrangular space along the surgical neck of humerus. anastomoses with profunda brachial artery

Term
Axillary Arterial Branches (group1)
|
|
Definition
Supreme Thoracic Artery- supplies the intercostal muscles
Thoracoacromial Artery- has clavicular, acromial, deltoidal, pectoral branches. pierces through the clavipectoral fascia
Lateral Thoracic Artery- runs along lateral border of the pec minor. supplies the pec major/minor, serratus anterior, and the axillary lymph nodes. gives rise to lateral mammary branches

Term
Axillary Artery Branches (group2) |
|
Definition
Subscapular Artery- split into two branches
Thoracodorsal Artery- accompanies the thoracodorsal nerve and supplies the lat dorsi and lateral thoracic wall
Circumflex Scapular Artery- passes posteriorly through the triangular space
Anterior Humeral Circumflex Artery- anastomoses with the posterior circumflex artery
Posterior Humeral Circumflex Artery- runs posteriorly with the axillary nerve through the quadrangular space. anastomoses with the anterior circumflex and partially with the profunda brachii artery

Term
Ligation of the Axillary Artery? |
|
Definition
anastomoses in the scapular region arriving at the subscapular artery , provides the necessary compensation
[image] |
|
|
Term
|
Definition
Descends posteriorly with the radial nerve and gives off an ascending branch, which anastomesis with the descending branch of the posterior humeral circumflex artery.
Splits into 2 branches
Radial Collateral Artery- follows the radial nerve and ends at the lateral epicondyle anastomosing with the radial recurrent artery
Middle Collateral Artery- anastomosis with the interosseous recurrent artery

|
Term
Superior Ulnar collateral Artery and Inferior Ulnar collateral Artery |
|
Definition
Superior ulnar collateral artery- accompanies the ulnar nerve behind the intermuscular septum and the medial epicondyle. anastomesis with the posterior ulnar recurrent branch which connects to ulnar artery
Inferior Ulnar collateral artery- anastomoses with the anterior ulnar recurrent branch of the ulnar artery
*If the inferior recurrent branch is ligated, anastomoses will still reach the ulnar and radial artery

|
Term
|
Definition
Radial Recurrent Artery- provides the anastomesis from the radial collateral branch from the profunda brachii artery
Palmar Carpal Branch- joins the palmar carpal branch of the ulnar artery forming the palmar carpal arch
Superficial Palmar Branch- anastomeses with the superficial branch of ulnar artery completing the superficial palmar arterial arch
Dorsal Carpal Branch- joins the the dorsal carpal branch of hte ulnar artery and the dorsal terminal branch of the anterior interosseous artery to form dorsal carpal rete
Princeps Pollicis Artery- descends along the ulnar border of the first metacarpal. divides into 2 proper digital arteries for each side of the thumb
Radialis Indicis Artery- supplies the second metacarpal, arising from the deep palmar branch
Deep Palmar Arch- arises from the main termination of the radial artery and joins the ulnar artery branch, forms the common digital palmar arteries

Term
Ulnar Artery interosseous region |
|
Definition
Anterior Ulnar recurrent artery- joins the inferior ulnar collateral artery
Posterior ulnar recurrent artery- joins the superior ulnar collateral artery
Common Interosseous Artery- arises from the lateral side and splits off into 2 branches
Anterior interosseous artery- descends with the anterior interosseous nerve to perforate the interosseous membrane anastomosing with the with the posterior interosseous artery and joins the dorsal carpal network
Posterior Interosseous Artery- Gives rise to the interosseous recurrent artery, which joins the middle collateral artery of the profunda brachii artery. descends behind the interosseous [image]membrane accompanies with posterior interosseous nerve. anastomoses with the the dorsal carpal branch of the anterior interosseous artery
