Pequot War

In 1637 ENglish militamen and thir Narragansett Indian allies set fire to the Indian wigwams and shot the fleeing survivors. The Pequot Indians were mostly annihiliated.

Anne Hutchinson

A member of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, held unothodox views that challenged the authority of the clergy and the very integrity of the Puritan lifestyle.

Roger Williams

A Salem minister with radical ideas that challenged the Bay Colony's way of life. In 1635 the Bay Colony authorities claimed him a criminal for his "dangerous opinions." He fled the for Rhode Island and established a colony and the first Baptist church.

Maryland Toleration Act

Passed in 1649, it guaranteed toleration of all Christians but also guaranteed death for Jews and atheists.

New Amsterdam, New York

Later NYC, a  company town ran by and for the DUtch Co. in interest of the stockholders. The Dutch had zero toleration but it bloomed with immigrants anyways.
