Proximal Attachment- Ilium Posterior to posterior gluteal line, to the dorsal surface of sacrum and coccyx and sacrotuberous ligament.
Distal Attachment- 3/4th fibers end in the iliotibial tract to gerdy’s tubercle. 1/4th fibers insert on gluteal tuberosity of femur.
Action- Hip extension, Hip external rotation *Reverse Action=trunk extension
Innervation- Inferior Gluteal Nerve (L5-S2) |
