- SVC drains everything above the diaphragm
- Exception:
- Heart: coronary sinus, ant. cardiac V.'s
- Lung: some bronchial veins
- Nerves:
- Vagus N.- runs posterior to SVC
- Phrenic N.- runs anterior to SVC
