1971 • another prisoner had been shot in CA and the prisoners decided to voice their complaints • the prisoners made a list of improvements/demands, but once they revolted against the guards Governor Rockefeller brought in State Troopers and Guards. the prisoners were shot and killed. • reflection of the effects of the Prison Industrial Complex • some of the requests: better living conditions, amnesty, education, basic things like healthier food. • similar to Sing Sing Prison in NY. there was a case that made the death penalty unconstitutional in NY. 1972 Furman v. Georgia. 642 men executed at Sing Sing. |
