- move & turn patient slowly and gently to prevent muscle spasms
- reposition q 2hr and turn side to side & prone
- unwrap stump dressing every 4-6 hours for first 2 days post op
- assess color, temp and most proximal pulse before rewrapping
- avoid ltion
- wrap when its elevated to prevent edema & vascular stasis
