On December 29, 1992, In a plot to kill U.S. servicemen headed to Somalia, Two Yemeni Muslims, who had been trained in Afghanistan, filled a car up with bombs and let it explode at a hotel in Aden, Yemen, they were later arrested. They had killed 2 tourist, and harmed many other. This was Al-Qaeda's first attack.

On February 26, 1993, a truck bomb explodes in the parking garage of the World Trade Center killing six and injuring hundreds. Investigators charge Ramzi Yousef as the person behind the World Trade Center bombing and begin a worldwide search for him. The attack was planned by a group of conspirators including Ramzi Yousef, Mahmud Abouhalima, Mohammad Salameh, Nidal A. Ayyad, Abdul Rahman Yasin, and Ahmad Ajaj, all members of Al-Qaeda. |

Bombing Of U.S Embassies

Definition
On August 7, 1998, terrorists bombed the U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, killing 224 people, including 12 American citizens, and injuring over 4,000. Federal investigators soon identified Osama Bin Laden and the organization Al-Qaeda as the principal suspects in the attacks. In October, all four defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole. In addition, the defendants were ordered to pay $33 million to the U.S. government and the families of the victims. |

Attack On The USS Cole

Definition
On October 12, 2000, while the USS Cole was refueling offshore, two suicide bombers approached the ship and set off an explosion. The small boat is believed to have been packed with 400-700 pounds of explosives, and the explosion blew a 40-foot hole in the side of the USS Cole. Seventeen people died and more than 40 were injured from this attack. |

On September 11, 2001, At 8:45 A.M, 92 people were on the American Airlines Flight 11 when it crashed into the North Building. People were shocked and scared but they thought it was a simple mistake. Then, at 9:03 A.M, United Airlines Flight 175, carrying 65 people, crashed into the South Tower. People know knew that they were under attack. They were scared and worried for the next attacks. When the buildings collapsed, 2819 people were killed, leaving a huge mark on the world. |
