Mitral valve regurgitation. New onset Mitral vavle regurgication is often a result of MI of the left anterior descending and circumflex arteries. They feed the papillary muscles, which in turn support mitral valve function. Prolonged ischemia causes the papillary or chordae to rupture preventing full closure during systole. |
