Wittenberg was made famous in 1517 when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses on the door of the Schlosskirche, signaling the beginning of the Protestant reformation in Germany.
Luther is also associated with Erfut, where he studied, and Eisenach where he completed his translation of the bible known as the Luther Bibel. |

Kraft durch Freude - Strength through Joy. The KdF was a large, state-run leisure organization fused with propoganda. Set out to build an affordable car. In 1938 a new town called KdF-Stadt was built churn out these cars. A British major took control, and the name of the city was changed to Wolfsburg and the company into Volkswagen. The KdF-Wagen became the Beetle. |
