Q. Help! I registered, but can't log-in.
A. Most likely, you didn't verify your email address by clicking on the link in the email we sent you when you registered. If you did not receive this message, it may have been trapped by your SPAM filters. If you can not locate it, please first request that we-resend it on the login page. If that doesn't work, and we will manually verify your account.
Q. How do I share my flash card sets with other people?
A. You have three options:
- Add them to the FlashCardDB, which is searchable by all web site users. You can do this by selecting "Share with other registered users" when creating your flash card set or afterward on the Manage Flash Card Set screen.
- Allow read-only access by unregistered users via a direct-url. This option can be activated by checking-off the "Read-Only Access" checkbox when creating your flash card set or afterward on the Manage Flash Card Set screen.
- Attach the set(s) to a "Flash Card Page".
Q. How do I use Flash Card Pages to share my flash cards?
A. Flash Card Pages can be used to share multiple flash card sets via a single URL. Here are the steps to create a flash card page for a particular course with an individual set of cards for each week's subject matter.
- Create a set for each week's subject matter.
- Create a Flash Card Page to present all of the available sets to your students. Title the page something like Flash Cards.
- On the "Create Flash Card Page" screen, you can select which sets to include on that page.
- Distribute the URL for the flash card page to your students.
Q. How do I print flash cards?
You can print flash cards you create and flash cards created by others that are part of the Flash Card DB. Just select the flash card set, click on Printer Friendly HTML, and then print the next page. It is designed so that three appear per page, and you then can cut and fold to create two-sided flash cards.
Q. How do I add images to my flash cards?
There are two different ways to incorporate images into your flash cards. You can create an image only flash card or us the WYSIWYG editor to create a visually rich card with both images and text.
- If the image is located on your computer, click on "Manage Images" on the myFlashCards screen. If it is located on the internet and you know it's URL, go to step 3.
- Upload your image to your collection
- Select or create a card set and choose the Advanced Editor.
- Select or create a new card
- Attach the image to the term or definition:
For an image only flash card:
- For whichever side of the card you want your image (term or definition), click the link titled "Image"
- If you uploaded your own image, select it via the "From your Collection" drop down. If it is located on the internet, enter it's URL.
For a visually rich card with both an image and text:
- For whichever side of the card you want your image (term or definition), click the link titled "WYSIWYG"
- Click the image icon in the second row of WYSIWYG icons
- If you uploaded your own image, select it via the "Your images" drop down. If it is located on the internet, enter it's URL.
- Click Insert
- Either click New Card to create a new Card or Save and Exit to return to your list of cards.
Q. How do I create audio flash cards?
- Prepare the audio files on your own computer
- Click the button titled "Manage Audio" on the myFlashCards screen
- Upload your audio files
- Select or create a card set and choose the Advanced Editor.
- Select or create a new card
- For whichever side of the card you want audio (term or definition), click the link titled "Audio"
- Select the audio file you want to use for the flash card via the "From your Collection" drop down.
- Either click New Card to create a new Card or Save and Exit to return to your list of cards.
