Definition

The Executive Branch was shaped by America's "Two Foundings"- the Articles of Confederation in 1777 and the Constitution in 1787.

 

Under English, executives were bad. 

-Governor not one of people

-Executives corruptible

-Legislatures represent and protect citizens

 

SO, in Articles of Confederation

-No single Executive

-State governors have short terms, term limits, are selected by legislature

 

Arcticles of Confed are totally inefficient, can't change w/o unanimous consent of states. SO
